Elk of Cataloochee

As the temperatures cool and the leaves start to turn I yearn to be in the Cataloochee valley of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park as the sun begins to break. The bellowing calls of the elk bulls echo through the valley as they warn others to avoid their harems. These amazing animals slowly move through the meadows grazing before the disappear into the forest as the sun moves higher in the sky.
